Suspicions

For string quartet, horn, flute

The underlying organizational principle for Suspicions is a gradual harmonic and rhythmic expansion. It begins with a sustained minor second and develops until the ending which contains thirty-second notes that are based around nearly an entire chromatic scale. The title, Suspicions, reflects on how suspicion, as a thought, gradually develops and expands, occasionally becoming indisputable.
